Hentley Farm wines specialises in producing premium quality single-estate and single-block wines solely from the vines grown on our Seppeltsfield property, situated on the banks of Greenock Creek. Acquired in the 1990's by Keith and Alison Hentschke, Hentley Farm was originally an old 100 acre vineyard and mixed farming property. In planting our vines Keith took a thorough farming approach, with the view that getting things right in the vineyard was the essential first step before even considering making wine.
We look at ourselves as 'winegrowers', with our winemaking accentuating characteristics of the vineyard from vine to bottle. We take a leading edge approach to vineyard management, while also ensuring the sustainability of our practices and recognising our custodial responsibility of the land. We also use a minimalist approach throughout the winemaking process, to ensure that we make exceptional wines that are reflective of their site and "terroir". Following this philosophy, Hentley Farm produces distinctive wines that display elegance, subtlety, richness and complexity.
Our intimate cellar door is housed in the property's original 1840's homestead, which has been painstakingly restored to retain its original charm. It provides the perfect environment for an exceptional boutique wine experience.
Since the first vintage in 2002, Hentley Farm has experienced great success and has cemented itself as one of South Australia's leading boutique wineries, being awarded a rare 5 red-stars by acclaimed wine writer James Halliday, with the comment "It hardly needs to be said the emphasis is on quality".
