March
The first of our monthly degustations was a huge success! Guests enjoyed dishes including seared scallops with popcorn and sweetcorn polenta teamed with our Viognier and textured chocolate with apricot, chilli and herbs paired with our Creation.
The next degustation will be held on March 27th, 12 noon and bookings are essential. Of course if you are interested in our degustations but the time doesn't suit, please contact us and we would be delighted to find a date that does.
In other news, renowned Sydney Morning Herald wine writer, Huon Hooke, deservedly noticed our Riesling, awarding it an impressive 93 points!
February The Hentley Farm Degustation Experience is Here
When: February 28th, 2010
Time: 12 noon
This month marks the beginning of regular Hentley Farm degustations and you're invited to be one of the first to enjoy this spectacular feast of fine wine and food. Hosted in our intimate cellar door dining room, our wines will be carefully teamed with eight exquisite courses from our food partner, Cole Thomas Culinary Solutions.
Each degustation experience will be an insightful journey through our wines, with the opportunity to savour past and present vintages. The wines will be complemented with culinary creations that will intrigue and challenge your ideas of traditional food and wine pairings.
Our February session, beginning 12 noon, will be hosted by founder, Keith Hentschke. He will give you the chance to look at our unreleased 2009 Zinfandel - our best vintage yet of this varietal. Keith's insight into each wine will provide for an educational and entertaining lunch.
Places are limited to 10 people at a cost of $250 per person. If you would like to make a booking or for further enquiries, please contact our cellar door on 08 8562 8427, or email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. January
Happy New Year! We hope that you started the New Year with some delicious wines...
On January 23rd Shakespeare in the Vines is taking place at Seppeltsfield. If you are attending or just in the area come join us for a pre drink and a spot of Petanque on our lawns to get the night started. Otherwise Dru will be pouring Hentley Farm wine at the performance so look out for him and say hello! At stake: a bottle of wine for the most impressive Petanque player…
Perfect Match
Recently served at a degustation in our dining room was Australian seared scallops, cauliflower puree with beetroot jus cooked by the highly skilled Cole Thomas, Chef de Cuisine of Culinary Solutions and Aaron Gillespie, Head Chef of the Royal Institution of Australia. We served this with our award winning Hentley Farm Grenache Rosé. Absolutely sensational and a match made in heaven! If you are interested in participating in a degustation please call our cellar door for information and to place a booking.
December 2009
The Creation Shiraz is now available at the cellar door! 'What is that?' you may ask. Well, each year our winemaker Andrew Quin creates a single block wine that he feels best exemplifies the influence of our unique site conditions and vintage variation within the Shiraz varietal. This uniqueness is identified on the vine and those characteristics are highlighted through innovative wine making practices.
In 2007 we chose the G block. This wine is a true display of vintage, site and traditional Barossan winemaking. Softness and elegance of the 2007 vintage, velvety tannins synonymous with the Hentley Farm vineyard, and strong oak integration resulting from 30 months in new French oak. A very special wine indeed... If you can not make it up to the cellar door, it is also available through mail order with complimentary shipping of six. Available at $105 per bottle or $630 per six.
Our Opening
After much hard work repairing holes, fixing walls, and cutting down unruly grass, our 1840's cottage-turned-shearer's-shed-turned-cellar door has been developed into a timeless setting for both cellar door and bespoke events.
Thank you to all of those who came out to help us celebrate and shared our opening weekend with us!
Cellar Door Hours
We are open 10am - 5pm, seven days a week so come in for a visit. If you are interested in having a structured tasting with some food, please contact us on 08 8562 8427 for more information.
