We were very proud to receive plaudits at the Royal Adelaide Wine Show for wines across our portfolio

ADELAIDE WINE SHOW WINS

The 2021 Hentley Farm Garganega has introduced our new Mount Crawford estate in style, when awarded Gold and 96 points at the show.

Earlier this year we acquired a vineyard set high in the hills at the southern edge of the Barossa Valley. Whilst sharing the rolling hills and gum tree vista of our Seppeltsfield Estate, the 23-hectare property – with fifteen under vine – at 450 meters is one of the highest and coolest vineyards in Barossa Valley. These conditions provide the wine growing team with a beautiful contrast in site terroir and variety selection to the harsh western ridge of Seppeltsfield.

The estate was established by wine identity Robin Day in 1998 using state-of-the-art vineyard design protocols based on soil assessment and analysis to give a ‘micro-terroir’ approach within the broader ambit of the vineyard.

The current eclectic selection of Riesling, Nebbiolo, Merlot, Lagrein, Saparavi, five separate clones of Pinot Noir, and Australia’s first planting of Garganega, resulted from Robin Day’s 30 years of experience in winemaking and technical management in Australia, and eleven other wine producing countries.

A special property that enables a new chapter in Keith and Alison Hentschke’s vision of producing exceptional single estate wines in the Barossa Valley.

We couldn’t ask for the first wine from our Mount Crawford estate to be described any better than the judges did – “… bloody delicious – All hail Garganega!” and we look forward to the wines to come.

Not to be forgotten, our original Seppeltsfield estate enjoyed some time on centre stage with the elegance of the 2019 The Beauty Shiraz rewarded with a Gold medal and 96 points; and the 2020 Hentley Farm Shiraz also receiving Gold and 96 points – giving an exciting early peek of the quality coming from the somewhat challenging 2020 vintage.

Beyond the estates, Hentley Farm produce modern wines sourced from select vineyards across the Barossa under the Villain & Vixen label. Featuring a Shiraz, Grenache, GSM, Chardonnay and Rosé – textural wines with enhanced vibrancy of fruit and varietal characteristics.

The Villain and Vixen Rosé showed well in an exciting array of Rosé’s – receiving a 95-pointed Gold medal, and the “fresh, pure complex” Villain and Vixen Chardonnay received 94 points topping its class.

These results are reward for the attention to detail from Andrew, Siobhan and the wine growing team to all of our wines.
